Atrauman® Ag – Silver Ointment Dressing

Atrauman Ag is an ointment-impregnated tulle dressing whose fibres are coated with silver. The fabric is impregnated with a neutral mixture of esters of natural acids and glycerol of plant origin. It contains no petroleum jelly or paraffin. It is particularly suitable for use in cosmetic surgery and dermatology in patients with sensitive skin. It has antibacterial properties and supports the natural healing of the wound. Atrauman Ag works by the so-called ‘Touch and Kill’ effect. When the dressing comes into contact with the wound exudate, silver ions are released that stop bacteria from the skin and clothing from multiplying. The concentration of silver ions is ideally balanced and limited to the dressing, so the healthy tissue around the affected area is not affected. Atrauman Ag is highly permeable to exudate, air and water vapour. Extremely soft and supple to apply. It can be combined with absorbent hydroactive and gauze wound dressings, for example HydroClean Plus, PermaFoam, Zetuvit and Sorbalgon. The wound exudate with the bacteria and endotoxins is taken up and absorbed by the secondary dressing.

Atrauman Ag is suitable for:

• Atraumatic treatment of wounds in all phases of healing, e.g. cuts, lacerations and abrasions.
• Acute and chronic wounds.
• Critically colonised and infected wounds.
• Infection prevention.
• Abscesses
• Boils

Caution:

Do not use on third-degree burns.

Do not use in combination with dressings or ointments that contain paraffin.

Treatment with Atrauman Ag does not replace treatment of the underlying cause of the wound.

Silver is not effective in the presence of necrosis and biofilm, which protect the bacteria.

Change:

Atrauman Ag can stay on the wound for up to 3 days.
