State funding in 4 steps

If you have a disability and need an assistive device or a medical device, you may be able to get it funded by the state. Here is how it works, in short.

  1. Step 1: Attend the medical committee

This is a specialised medical advisory committee (СЛКК / SLKK) or a territorial or national expert medical committee (ТЕЛК / НЕЛК, TELK / NELK). There you are issued an electronic medical protocol.

  2. Step 2: Fill in the application on the spot

You fill in an electronic application confirming that you agree with what has been prescribed. It is sent electronically to the Regional Health Insurance Fund (РЗОК / RZOK). Someone you have authorised can also submit it for you.

  3. Step 3: Wait for the decision

A committee of the RZOK or of the National Health Insurance Fund (НЗОК / NZOK) approves the application or refuses it, giving reasons. You are told by email or by phone, without having to go to the RZOK.

  4. Step 4: Come to one of our shops

With the approval code, our advisers help you choose the right device.

Our advice is free. The rules change, so the current conditions are confirmed by the RZOK and the Social Assistance Directorate (Дирекция „Социално подпомагане“) for your address.

Frequently asked questions

Questions about state funding

How do I check my hearing?

Hearing is tested at authorised hearing aid centres, in ENT practices and in hospital departments. With us, the test takes place at our hearing centres in Gabrovo and Stara Zagora.

You can come with a referral from an ENT specialist or book an appointment with us directly. Before the test, the specialist examines your ear canal, for example for earwax, and decides whether the test can be done straight away.

Who is entitled to an assistive device funded by the state?

People with a disability who need an assistive device, aid, piece of equipment or medical device are entitled to one. The device is prescribed by a specialised medical advisory committee (СЛКК / SLKK) or by the territorial or national expert medical committee (ТЕЛК / НЕЛК, TELK / NELK), with an electronic medical protocol.

The conditions for your case are confirmed by the Regional Health Insurance Fund (РЗОК / RZOK) and the Social Assistance Directorate (Дирекция „Социално подпомагане“) for your address, because the rules change. We will explain the steps to you free of charge.
